And in honor of that....
I love you, Century Media. Thank you for not only posting the official video, but allowing us to embed. That means I get to introduce readers to the awesomeness of The Gathering. Now please tell the other record companies that this is an intelligent thing to do...
Oh, hell, while we're at it, here's another:
This is why, if a little girl's unfortunate enough to end up with me as a mother, she shall be named Eleanor.
And while the sound quality's crap on this version, the intro's utterly enchanting, so click here if you want to have some science-geek with your progressive metal.

Back in the '60s, there was a rule of sorts in popular music that any song intended for the mass market had to be mixed so that it would sound good on the tiny speakers of AM radios. Nowadays, people play music on the tiny speakers that are on their computers or connected to them with little wires. In both cases, the music companies saw no direct profit from their music being played there. It's just that, at least in the '60s, they knew where their bread was buttered.
ReplyDeleteEither the record companies are greedier nowadays, or it's not the better quality of a CD or MP3 that is the motivation for buying it. Or maybe it's both.
Eleanor's a good name. This particular Eleanor could learn to go easy on the mascara, though.
I love The Gathering!!!
