Petraeus on Victory

The next time McCain starts spouting off about "victory in Iraq," you might want to direct him to have a little chat with General Petraeus:

In an interview with the BBC, Petraeus said he didn't know if he could promise "victory," said he didn't know if he would ever even use that word, and suggested that using it is irresponsible. Here's the key exchange:

Q: Do you think you will ever use the word "victory"?

Petraeus: I don't know that I will. I think that all of us at different times have recognized the need for real restraint in our assessments, in our pronouncements, if you will. And we have tried to be very brutally honest and forthright in what we have provided to Congress, to the press, and to ourselves.

A bit later, Petraeus elaborated:

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag and go home to a victory parade...it's not war with a simple slogan."

This seems a bit at odds with McCain's frequent assertion that our goal should be for our troops to come home with "victory" and "honor."

Go ahead, Johnny. Tell us what an unpatriotic bastard Petraeus is. Tell us how he doesn't want to "win" in Iraq.

We're waiting.

I think John McCain thinks just because he served in the military gives him the right to be president. He is OLD and chose a female vice president. Personally I am offended that she offered the second seat to the president just to be used as a gopher. Just like the republicans, no respect for women except to bear children and look after their men!

Petraeus is a member of the most unsteady of Cabals, Captans of Industry and Finance, Government Rulers, and Military Leaders. They firmly hold gnostic beliefs. There are multiple levels of knowledge.

To the plebes: The Surge Worked America and her Allies have prevailed in Iraq... Again...

To the patricians: The generational conflict to realign the Mesopotamia region of Centcom to conform to American Interests continues to progress. However, the ebb and flow (as crassly measured by those who actually bleed, die and suffer psychological wounds from which they never recover) is currently in our favor.

You see all you need do is absorb the pabulum of the bread and circuses and not worry you pretty little head about such matters.

America Good! Terra-rists Bad! Glorious Victory Achieved!
